ZGCL Investments
Zambia Gold Company Ltd (ZGCL) intends to play a catalytic role in the development of the gold sector in Zambia. This entails a strategic and sustainable approach that maximises the extraction of value from the gold sector that will benefit the State, as the principle shareholder, and ultimately all Zambians.
ZGCL is structured to draw expertise from all its departments that span Investments, Finance, Mining & Engineering, Geology, Public Relations and Human Resources to execute its mandate. The Investments Unit works within this multi-disciplinary approach and focuses on the following activities:
- Development of and raising capital for investment grade project proposals across the value chain from upstream (exploration & mining) to downstream (marketing, investments, refining & beneficiation);
- Drafting, negotiating and closing commercial terms for all brokered deals;
- Development of strategic ideas and proposals to increase revenue and optimise commercial and social returns for ZGCL’s shareholders;
- Networking with prospective investors in identifying relevant value propositions and potential areas of synergy;
- Development of strategies and structures to effectively optimise the participation of artisanal and small-scale miners (ASMs);
- Formulation and review of investment guidelines, policies and procedures for monitoring and evaluating existing projects and investments plus identification of new projects and investment opportunities.
